Teen Tuesday features Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell. While not exactly BFFs, Deja and Josi, short for Josiah, are tight. They have been summer job BFFs for the last three years and this is the last night of their summer job before heading off to college. The two work at the Succotash Hut at DeKnock's World Famous Pumpkin Patch. Josi has been crushing on Marcy, aka Fudge Girl for the last three years. Deja is a seize the day sort of gal. She convinces Josi to introduce himself to Marcy during their break. Only, when they get to the fudge shop, they learn she's covering the S'Mores Pit! So they head there to find that she was sent elsewhere. And so it goes. The reader gets a tour of this quirky amusement park and gets to know the two friends as they banter, search for the elusive Fudge Girl, encounter a snack-stealing imp and hilariously evade a runaway goat.

The palette is decidedly autumnal and the art is terrific. The cast of characters is diverse, there's plenty of visual humor and the panel layout moves the story briskly. Pumpkinheads is a first-purchase and should find appeal among a variety of YA readers, including fans of the author's as well as fans of the graphic novel format.
