In 2016, Dr. Kendi published Stamped from the Beginning: the Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, an intellectual history of racism in America. It was written for an adult audience and won the 2016 National Book Award. In spring of 2020, Stamped: Racism, Anti-racism and You: A Remix of Stamped from the Beginning was published. In this NYT bestselling book, Jason Reynolds made Dr. Kendi's ideas accessible to teens.
