Waiting for Normal by Leslie Connor. 290 p. Katherine Tegen Books/ HarperCollins Publisher, February, 2008. 9780060890896. (Own.)
This week's #tbt feature was inspired by a sixth grader who recently read Waiting for Normal by Leslie Connor. Her verdict upon returning it was a big smile and, "So good!" Waiting for Normal was published in 2008 and won the Schneider Family Book Award in 2009. It is the story of Addie, whose mother is not the most stabile individual in her life. That would be her step-father, who recently left the family after moving Addie and her mother into a trailer. He tries to maintain a presence in Addie's life, but her mother makes that very difficult. Addie is optimistic and continually hopes for "normal."
