Friday Memes: Trouble Makes a Comeback by Stephanie Tromly

Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader and Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice.

Trouble Makes a Comeback by Stephanie Tromly. 298 p. Kathy Dawson Books/ Penguin Young Readers Group, November 22, 2016. 9780525428411.

Publisher synopsis: An utterly satisfying sequel packed with razor-sharp dialogue, a love triangle you didn't see coming, and the most charismatic dynamic duo you ever met.
Now that the infuriating and irresistible Philip Digby has left town for a lead on his sister who disappeared years ago, Zoe Webster is looking forward to a quiet spring semester. She's dating a cute quarterback, hanging out with new friends, and enjoying being "a normal." Which is of course when Digby comes back. He needs Zoe's help, and not just to find his sister.
Zoe can either choose to stay on her current path toward popularity, perfect SAT scores, and Princeton, or she can take a major detour with Digby, and maybe find out what that kiss he stole from her really meant. Digby and his over-the-top schemes always lead somewhere unexpected and Zoe's beginning to learn she might just like jumping into the unknown. When it comes to Digby, for Zoe at least, the choice might already be made.

First line: I don't believe in Happily Ever After. Nobody over the age of thirteen with an Internet connection has any business believing in that noise.

Page 56: There was a canopy bed in the form of an open gilded lily. All the furniture was plush or velvet or brocaded. Look past the initial prettiness, though, and what you saw was...
"It's like the inside of a coffin," Digby said.
    That.
"My great-grandfather had it build in 1940 for the daughter he never ended up having. My grandfather didn't have any girls either," Sloane said.
"This room's been waiting for you since 1940? I said, "That's creepy."

I am deliriously happy that I spotted this on an arc pile at ALA Annual! I adored Trouble is a Friend of Mine and can't wait to revisit Zoe and Digby.

  1. This sounds really entertaining. What a lucky find! I'm working my way through TBR mountain and landed on Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas this week. Happy reading!
