Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

The TTT theme this week over at Broke and Bookish is - Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015.

Most of my list are debut authors:

Victoria Jamieson, author of Roller Girl. Phenomenal middle grade graphic novel. If you do not know it, you must check it out.

When I read Tara Altebrando's, My Life in Dioramas, enjoyed it so much that I searched out The Dreamland Social Club and am looking forward to reading more.

Alex Gino, whose debut novel, George has just touched my heart.

Timothée de Fombelle, author of Vango, a gripping historical-ish fiction set in the years leading up to WWII. The sequel, Prince without a Kingdom is sitting on my tbr monster.

Linda Bailey, author of Seven Dead Pirates. I will admit to reacting with a bit of skepticism when I received this book for review. It very quickly won my heart though and every kid I recommend it to returns it with a smile.

Cassie Beasley's debut, Circus Mirandus was one of the most hyped books this year and thus, I was prepared to hate it. Not so.

Lance Rubin's debut, Denton Little's Death Date sat on the tbr until I learned it was an audiobook, narrated by the author himself. Charming, amusing and rather philosophical, I hear that there's a sequel due out sometime, but haven't found anything online.

Stephanie Tromley's debut, Trouble is a Friend of Mine, is a tad mature for my crowd, but I so loved it that I have been quietly booktalking it to my more mature eighth grade readers.

When an editor that you are having breakfast with at a conference tells you to go to another house's booth to snag an arc, you listen. Ali Benjamin's The Truth about Jellyfish, her middle grade debut, just nestles into your heart and won't soon leave. (You might want to check out Positive by Paige Rawls - written with Ali Benjamin)

Finally, Luke Reynold's debut, The Looney Experiment is all heart. While the quirky teacher trope breaks no new ground, it was an enjoyable read. I'm eager to read his next novel.

  1. Yep. It's not often a publisher tells you to go visit another publisher's booth. That convinces me.

    Here's my Top Ten!

  2. What great new-to-you choices. Some I've also read, some are new to me now.

  3. I still need to pick up Trouble is a Friend of Mine. It has been compared to Veronica Mars, and I LOVE Veronica Mars!
