What's New? Stacking the Shelves

StS is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. Hop on over there to ogle what other bloggers got in the mail.

For review:

Hope is a Ferris Wheel by Robin Herrera. 247 p. Amulet Books/ Abrams, March 11, 2014. 9781419710391.

Publisher synopsis: Ten-year-old Star Mackie lives in a trailer park with her flaky mom and her melancholy older sister, Winter, whom Star idolizes. Moving to a new town has made it difficult for Star to make friends, when her classmates tease her because of where she lives and because of her layered blue hair. But when Star starts a poetry club, she develops a love of Emily Dickinson and, through Dickinson’s poetry, learns some important lessons about herself and comes to terms with her hopes for the future.

With an unforgettable voice with a lot of heart, Hope Is a Ferris Wheel is the story of a young girl who learns to accept her family and herself while trying to make sense of the world around her.

Poached by Stuart Gibbs. 328 p. Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers, April 8, 2014. 9781442467774.

Publisher synopsis: Teddy Fitzroy’s back for another zoo mystery—this time it’s a koala caper.
School troublemaker Vance Jessup thinks Teddy Fitzroy’s home at FunJungle, a state-of-the-art zoo and theme park, is the perfect place for a cruel prank. Vance bullies Teddy into his scheme, but the plan goes terribly awry.
Teddy sneaks into the koala exhibit to hide out until the chaos dies down. But when the koala goes missing, Teddy is the only person caught on camera entering and exiting the exhibit.
Teddy didn’t commit the crime—but if he can’t find the real culprit, he’ll be sent to juvie as a convicted koala-napper.
Can I say that I did a happy dance when I received my title assignment because I so enjoyed Belly Up and recommend it frequently?

That's what's new with me, what's new with you?
