What's New? Stacking the Shelves

StS is a weekly meme over at Tynga's Reviews. Hop on over there to ogle what other bloggers are reading.

For review:

I Heart Band! by Michelle Shusterman. 188 p. Grosset & Dunlap/ Penguin Group (USA) Inc., January, 2014. 9780448456836.

Publisher synopsis: Holly Mead’s first day of seventh grade isn’t going as planned. Her brother ruins her carefully chosen outfit, she’s almost late, and her new band director has some surprisingly strict rules. Worst of all, it seems like her best friend, Julia, has replaced her with Natasha, the pretty, smart, new French horn player! Holly is determined to get first chair, but Natasha is turning out to be some pretty stiff competition—and not just in band. Band might be a competition, but friendship isn’t—and Holly needs to figure it out before she loses Julia for good.

Bought:

Reading in the Wild: the Book Whisperer's Keys to Cultivating Lifelong Reading Habits by Donalyn Miller, with Susan Kelly. 304 p. John Wiley & Sons Inc., November 2014. 9780470900307.

This is professional reading for me. I enjoyed The Book Whisperer very much.

Michael Hague's Read-to-Me Book of Fairy Tales. Retold by Allison Grace MacDonald. Illustrated by Michael Hague. 123 p. Harper/ HarperCollins Publishers, October, 2013.
  • 9780688140106.

There are a few illustrators whose books I collect despite the fact that my children are grown and I don't need another fairy tale collection in my house. Michael Hague is one.

That's what's new with me. What's new with you?
